JUNE 2017 gentle cleanse In Juneau AK

May 20th, 2017 · Naturopathic News, nutrition, women's health

Three perpetual optimal health-seekers are at it again to bring a participatory wellness forum to our town. Dr. Emily Kane, NOW spa owner and body worker Joanie Waller, and Elissa Borges nutrition/lifestyle consultant, offer a detox to kick off a long-term, individualized re-booting of your desired optimal health.

The program will entail 4 meetings at NOW Spa; Saturday June 3 (4-5:30 PM), Tuesday June 6 (4:45-6:15 PM), Saturday June 10 (4-5:30 PM) and wrapping up Thursday June 15 (4:45-6:15 PM)

At the first meeting Dr. Emily Kane will distribute a gentle but deep detox “kit” and instructions for how to best implement the program. More info here: http://www.vitalnutrients.net/detox-kit.html

Elissa Borges will explain her hair mineral analysis system and briefly outline her program.

Joanie Waller will schedule the frequent saunas that will be needed during the cleanse (ideally 5 big sweats within the 10 days of the clean diet phase — which is not fasting) and also book you for her deep, intuitive bodywork.

Dr. Kane will be adding another component to the sauna experience — chasing with a cold water foot bath. This is a new health habit I have implemented every morning, 60 seconds in running (ideally) cold water, ankle deep. Amazingly invigorating! Right after skin brushing 🙂

Cost:
Dr Kane’s lectures and detox kit: $160
Elissa Borges’ complete personalized nutritional analysis and implementation program: $360
Five-sauna package at NOW spa: $125 plus one 90-minute bodywork session $100
Total cost (insurance reimbursable with office visit to Dr. Kane 586-3655): $745

This investment will be recovered largely with savings on food (stop buying marginal food items forever), with long-term health improvement allowing for fewer doctor visits and greater work productivity, and best of all greatly with enhanced personal relationships because of getting clean and shiny from the inside out.

Why detox? There are still nay-sayers out there who don’t believe in global warming or ocean pollution. But that’s not us. We know our air, water and food quality has been compromised. We have to be vigilant. We need to actively understand that Big Business does NOT care about your health. Think about the list of environmental toxins that national and international policies have allowed to seep into every corner of our beautiful, and increasingly fragile planet. I know you who are reading this have interest in the profound exposure to toxins our bodies are increasingly enduring. To dig a little deeper, and reconnect to the compelling case for regular detox programs, google any (or all) of the 10 top “persistent organic pollutants” (POPs): particulate matter (especially from diesel exhaust), PAH (vehicle exhaust), solvents (paints, cleaners, inks, building materials…), mycotoxins (water-damaged buildings which grow toxic mold), phthalates (personal care products, flexible plastic), lead (breast milk, supplements from China, older homes), organophosphate pesticides (non-organic foods), mercury (big fish), perflourocarbons (indoor air, cooking with Teflon), PCBs (farmed fish). We have fallen far from Eden and the message has not yet migrated to the general population, and certainly not to the majority of our policy makers. Get clean, often, not only for your sake but for seven generations to come.

This program will be available for 12 participants. A return email will put you on the list. $100 deposit received in the mail written to Natural Healthcare will reserve your spot. Here is more information about Elissa’s protocol.

Before the detox participants submit a hair sample for HTMA lab testing before starting the detox. This would involve either me taking the sample for them or providing instructions and you do it from home. I would also have you complete my intake paperwork and the online NAQ (nutritional questionnaire).
During the Detox: Participants schedule a consultation with Elissa, see Green Heron email address above. The purpose of the consultation would be to coach clients to define/clarify/connect to long term health goals/purpose on deep/emotional level As well as explain your HTMA lab results & provide individualized diet, supplement, lifestyle and daily gentle detox strategies to be implemented after the 2 week detox. This would be a 2-3 month protocol and would take you through summer. All recommended diets are low glycemic.  You will additionally et coaching to help identify obstacles and create action steps. I will provide specific coaching on mindful eating, how to identify hunger and fullness, when to eat and stop eating, how to support digestion through RCA (relax-chew-appreciate) and other mind-body support tools.
After the Detox: Follow your individualized 2-3 month plan. Sweating will likely be recommended so it would be great if you were able to continue saunas through summer.
End of summer Follow-up: I would like to follow-up with each of you at the end of August or in September to retest HTMA and adjust protocols. This would give you further support as you enter fall months and would provide specific feedback on how the detox and summer protocols supported health. We would revisit goals, obstacles and action steps. I also provide unlimited email support between consultations.
Price: Total price of $360 includes 2 HTMA lab tests, 2 NAQ’s, 2 consultations w/coaching (60-90mins), unlimited email support and 2 individualized diet/supplement/lifestyle/detox

What is Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis?
A hair tissue mineral analysis (HTMA) simply stated, is a screening test that measures the mineral content of your hair. Providing a mineral blueprint of one’s biochemistry, a hair tissue mineral analysis can provide pertinent information about one’s metabolic rate, energy levels, sugar and carbohydrate tolerance, stage of stress, immune system and glandular activity. This method of testing has been used for at least 100 years worldwide to screen for the level of 20 minerals and toxic metals in a sample of hair. It is a non-invasive relatively inexpensive method of testing and is very accurate.

An HTMA will help you to…
Determine your current metabolic type so you can fine tune your nutrition and create a diet plan specific to your needs.
Understand which supplements you currently need (and which to avoid).
Find out if you have heavy metal exposure and whether your body is currently releasing these metals.
Understand why you have chronic fatigue and how to recover your energy.
Gain insight into your current state of adrenal and thyroid function.
Determine how well your body is handling sugar.
